25 Poipet Families Evacuated from Floods

Banteay Meanchey: Banteay Meanchey authorities have begun evacuating people after flooding hit Poipet City on Monday. Poipet Military Command Commander, Lt. Col. Leng Hong Leang, ordered 20 troops to evacuate 25 families living along the Cambodian-Thai border in Poipet Village in Poipet commune.

Heavy rain has been falling in Banteay Meanchey for several days. The area is on high alert, with more heavy rain forecast for the next few days. Authorities say more evacuations are being prepared and safety zones are being set up.
